Villa Lorena Senior Living offers residents a luxurious and active lifestyle
There is never a dull moment at Villa Lorena Senior Living, a retirement community that makes residents feel like they are living in an extension of their own home.
With designs reminiscent of Italian architecture, Villa Lorena offers a luxurious and upscale atmosphere in its independent and assisted living spaces as well as its solid memory treatments.
Villa Lorena is a full service property, with laundry, housekeeping and transportation services.
“We take them where they want to go, usually within a 10 mile radius, but if it’s a little further, that’s okay,” said executive director Joey Collado.
The community also has its own restaurant with delicious chef-prepared meals, wine and other specialty drinks. One thing that sets Villa Lorena apart from other communities is its dining room opening hours: rather than keeping it open for short windows in the morning, afternoon and evening and closing between meals, Villa Lorena keeps its dining room open from 7 a.m. am to 7 pm daily.
“We give our residents the choice of when they want to eat,” said Collado.
Villa Lorena offers a wide range of activities for its residents, including its ever popular yoga club, garden club, knitting club, music therapy, history lectures and much more. The community often hosts live music and outdoor concerts for its residents with appetizers, drinks and more.
Children of residents can also track where and what their parents have been up to throughout the day through the community system, which records their attendance at various events, by visiting www.gosagely.com.
“One of the complaints we used to hear from family members is that they couldn’t reach mom because she was always doing something,” Collado said. “Now the kids can find out exactly what Mom decided to do today.”
The community’s grounds are also beautiful and located in the peaceful hills of Rancho Santa Fe, away from noisy freeway traffic. There is plenty of outdoor space for families to visit loved ones in the community, which has been especially helpful throughout the pandemic when visits were limited to outdoors only.
Now, the community has opened up tours inside residents’ rooms, but Collado said many families choose to sit outside to enjoy the community’s beautiful patios and the pleasant climate of San Diegan.
The community was fortunate to go last year without any cases of COVID-19, and are now fully vaccinated with the exception of a few staff who are either pregnant or exempt for other health reasons.
The award-winning staff at Villa Lorena also help residents feel at home by getting to know them and what they were doing before retiring to the community.
“All residents have a get to know me page,” Collado said. “If they were teachers or nurses, for example, we honor them during Teachers ‘Week or Nurses’ Week. We invite them to be part of our activities. “
With its high quality amenities, Villa Lorena offers its residents a comfortable and dignified lifestyle.
