Rockwoods Announces Free Concerts on Wednesdays Bonfire | Elk River Star News
Rockwoods at Otsego have announced their free concert lineup on Bonfire Wednesdays, which will start May 26 and run through September 15.
The Shane Martin Band will debut on May 26 when the town star joins his bandmates on stage for the first time in a long time.
It was supposed to open last year’s lineup, but that had to be canceled when the grip of the pandemic hit the state of Minnesota and restrictions to prevent the virus from spreading took effect.
“It has been difficult for the artists and companies who have suffered so much,” said Katie Franaschouk, CEO of Rockwoods. “This is why we are delighted to find a certain normalcy with our outdoor concerts on Wednesday evening.”
Bonfire Wednesdays are free and a fan favorite for entertainment just outside the bar, restaurant, and food and event center. Some only come for the concerts that start at 7 p.m. and others make it an entire evening in the large outdoor space that leaves room for social distancing and the ability to stretch out with lawn chairs and the like.
The restaurant opens the outdoor space at 4 p.m., offering specials, outdoor grilling, and time to quietly enjoy the company of friends and family before catching a show.
The restaurant chef envisions items such as pulled pork, brisket or pork chops on a stick. The adult event for people 21 and over attracts a wide variety of ages and always seems to attract a few who like to dance to the music, Franaschouk said.
“These couples are so adorable,” Franaschouk said.
Rockwoods is working with the City of Otsego to clear the event and stay tuned to state restrictions with a hopeful eye on them becoming increasingly lenient as summer approaches.
“We are so excited to finally be able to start over,” said Franaschouk.
