What is Asian-American and Pacific Island Heritage Month?
First signed into public law by Congress in 1992, United States of America and the Pacific Islands Heritage Month commemorates many of the community’s accomplishments. The month of May was chosen in particular to honor the first wave of Japanese immigration to the United States on May 7, 1843, as well as the anniversary of the completion of the transcontinental railway, built mainly by Chinese immigrants, the May 10, 1869.

It is more important than ever to come together and support our AAPI friends, neighbors, colleagues and family members as community members have experienced a massive spike in hate and harassment online. It also doesn’t have to be an expensive endeavor, as many have offers that will allow you to help elevate these entrepreneurs while simultaneously checking out new products or brands for less.
