Home grants $ 250,000 for outdoor space at Ruth Eckerd Hall
Ruth Eckerd Hall may soon get an outdoor performance space after the House included funding for the renovation in its bump offer Wednesday.
Sen. Ed Hooper be p. Chris Latvala credit deposited requests (SF 1080, HB 2155) for the renovation. The application seeks one-time funding of $ 250,000 for the 73,000 square foot Clearwater Performing Arts Hall to complete construction of an outdoor space.
Although the House initially left the program outside of its budget, the Senate’s refusal led the lower house to include it in its transport and economic development credit offer on Wednesday. The proposed budget now includes all of the funding requested for the renovation.
According to demand, state funding would represent half of the planned cost of the project. An additional $ 250,000 was provided by private donors.
Demand funding would be used to renovate the landing on the east side of the hall; an outdoor space intended to serve as an educational space and a meeting place. More precisely, funds would help finalize the completion of the England Family Music Garden, as requested.
The nonprofit plans to use the area to “allow students and patrons to safely distance themselves, outdoors, while participating in the programming,” according to demand.
Among the uses of the space: end-of-session performances, scholarship showcases, private lesson recitals, pre-show performances, summer productions, as well as a space to present local artists and community partners .
Prior to the pandemic, Ruth Eckerd Hall’s Kindergarten to Grade 12 education programs reached more than 45,000 students each year and served more than 465,400 clients.
Students at Pinellas County schools would also use the space to participate in a choral program, including the Marcia P. Hoffman School of the Arts, as requested. Professional development opportunities will also take place at this new location, including teacher training and workshops for Pinellas County schools’ instructors and artist teachers.
