Eastlake Weekly Outdoor Market Provides Display Space for Vendors | Lake County
Eastlake’s weekly outdoor market has evolved from its inception to Place des vignobles three years ago.
Since the Lake County Captains Minor League Baseball team did not play last year due to the novel coronavirus, the market was operating from the Classic Park Lobby parking lot (Captains’ Field) said Judy Moran, administrative assistant to the mayor and fire chief for the town of Eastlake.
With baseball games scheduled for this year at Classic Park, located at 35300 Vine St. in Eastlake, the market will operate in the parking lot in front of the stadium, Moran said, at 35010 Vine Street
“I probably have over 45 salespeople this year, so it’s grown over the three years and I’m really excited about it,” Moran said.
The market will run from May 6 to September 2 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday. Vendors have the option of staying until 7 p.m. on game nights so they can capture incoming traffic to watch the games, Moran said.
“The reason the market started was when we started at Vineyards Plaza, it was to bring attention to this place for people to rent the spaces there,” Moran said. “It works great because I have two people who are probably going to be at the front there.”
In addition to independent distributors and local producers who frequent the market, fresh produce is also provided, Moran said.
“It’s not as expensive as some grocery stores and it comes straight from the farm,” Moran said. “I have a gentleman who is from Garrettsville and he is very well received. I love you to the moon and to the back of the bakery was one of our sales people and now she has a storefront on Vine Street. “
The Farmers’ Market gives locals a place to showcase what they’ve made and sell, which changes often, Moran said.
“I just want people to have a place to gather. I think it’s important that people have a place to gather and can see these people who are their friends and neighbors that they can support.”
